CMBPol Mission Concept Study Telecon notes 13 February, 2008 Participants: Bock, Hanany, Hinshaw, Irwin, Keating, Kogut, Lee, Meyer, Shimon Viewgraphs to be found at http://cmbpol.uchicago.edu ____________________________________________________________ Our study proposal has been selected but we do not yet know the level of funding. ____________________________________________________________ Workshop Updates: Instrumentation Workshop (Irwin/Hanany) - The structure of the workshop is being finalized and invitations to key participants is forthcoming. ____________________________________________________________ Discussion following opinions from PPPDT meeting. Three questions were discussed: 1) The relative importance of the primary CMBPol science and ancillary science: lensing, galactic emission and the relation to the angular resolution, cost and strength of case for the mission. 2) Relationship with European science and European future missions. 3) The strength of the science case to push beyond r=0.01 which might be reachable with sub-orbital experiments. ____________________________________________________________ Systematics study (Keating) Study will be an extension of what was done for EPIC using a Fourier space analysis. The study is to be extended for studying the systematics for lensing and secondary science at high resolution. Work will include the study of how the scan strategy effects systematics. Relation to other CMBPol mission study: Other (time domain) simulations, waveplates, optics issues, scan strategy simulations.
